BEACON Tester Mini Wi-Fi

Progressive Technology to Ensure Maritime Safety

BEACON Tester Mini Wi-Fi

The EPIRB Tester 406 Mini (Beacon Tester 406 Mini) is the most comfortable and reliable solution for out-of-office testing of any type of distress radio beacon (EPIRBs, PLBs) working under COSPAS-SARSAT system.

The EPIRB Tester Mini w/ Wi-Fi provides all necessary measurements on frequency at 406 MHz and 121.5 MHz homing signal frequency.

The measurements are managed from your mobile device, connected via Wi-Fi. All platforms are supported: Android, IOs, Windows, Linux, etc. Intuitive interface of the software enables even an unexperienced surveyor to provide professional testing and measure numerous parameters to make sure that the beacon is reliable. Test report will be generated automatically just click for a needed one.

The testing protocols comply with SOLAS regulations as well as with the IMO Circulars 1039 and 1040.

Product Overview

EPIRB Testing In Compliance With Global Standards

This Tester can be used as a reliable and easy-to-use professional tool for ship surveyors or inspectors, EPIRB suppliers, registry authorities, etc.

EPIRBs are subject to annual performance tests and shore-based maintenance. Shore-based maintenance volume is described in IMO MSC/Circ.1039. The annual testing of 406 MHz satellite EPIRBs is required by SOLAS regulation IV/15.9. The volume of annual beacon testing is described in IMO MSC/Circ.1040 (MSC.1/Circ.1040/Rev.1. IMO MSC/Circ. 955 further recommends that annual testing of the EPIRB shall be carried out concurrently with the Annual Safety Radio Survey.

The testing should be carried out using suitable test equipment, such as EPIRB Tester, capable of performing all the relevant measurements required in the above guidelines. All checks of electrical parameters should be performed in the self-test mode, if possible.

The Beacon Tester Mini receives and decodes messages from any 406MHz COSPAS-SARSAT beacon, transmitting them either in test mode or in emergency mode. The signal can be received through the broadcast using an antenna or the Tester can be connected with a beacon directly with a cable through a suitable attenuator. Radiated tests in emergency mode should be carried out using a shielded room (or a box) only.

After the testing, the results will be displayed on the screen and the software will provide the possibility to generate a test report.
